newspapers

1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.

2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.

3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the
country, and who are very good at crosswords.

4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country
but don't really understand the Washington Post. They do, however, like
their statistics shown in pie charts.

5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn't mind running the
country, if they could spare the time, and if they didn't have to leave
LA to do it.

6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the
country and did a far superior job of it, thank you very much.

7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren't too sure who's
running the country, and don't really care as long as they can get a
seat on the train.

8. The New York Post is read by people who don't care who's running the
country, as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably
while intoxicated.

9. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren't sure there
is a country .... or that anyone is running it; but whoever it is, they
oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the
leaders are handicapped minority feminist atheist dwarfs, who also
happen to be illegal aliens from ANY country or galaxy as long as they
are Democrats.

10. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country
but need the baseball scores.

11. The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the
grocery store.

iamdrawn's greatest hits

do you remember iamdrawn?

i played with them tonight. i'm a little hesitant to say something bad about it, because maybe someone enjoyed it, but i'd be surprised if they did.

it wasn't working, so i decided i was just going to try out some of these ideas i've had about playing out of time over a pulse. i think it has promise, but i'll need to work on it some. tonight it sounded like i was just randomly banging on my drums, so it needs a little more structure to make the technical wizardry apparent. because i'm awesome.

i'm not the right drummer for loud music. i never know what to do when it gets loud because i hate the idea of just laying into my ride cymbal and playing back beats. that's dumb and every pop/hardcore/bullshit drummer does it. i'd like to think there's something interesting that could be done there, but i'm not the one to find it. i'll be fine with mellow music. i do need something to seriously play drums on, because the other thing with jason and jason is a lot of keyboards. balance is needed in my musical life, indeed.

maybe i'll make jason hook me up with him and clint for something. i think that would be fun x 10^60

TRIP!

Jason and I went to San Diego.

We saw UCSD and the Symphony. Both were awesome. If I were a super-student I would go to school there, but I'm not, so chances are slim. Nearby was the Salk Institute, but we didn't get to go inside because we missed the architectural tours. It was cool on the outside too.

The symphony played Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony and Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1. Incredible.

We got lost around Old Town. Then we got a map and had mediocre Mexican food.

I like the ocean and Ghiradelli ice cream.

Also, eat at Blue Point on 5th and Market if you're ever there and like fish. Get the sea bass.

Also, El Centro is my least favorite town in California. Maybe ever.

today I couldn't get out of bed for hours and hours and hours because my back has become completely crippled. I called Steven (Who was in his bedrooom) at 4:30 in the morning and said, "Help, I can't move my body." So he came and kept me company until my mom came over later with muscle cream and a hot pad. The cream started to burn my body and my mom said it looked like I had been sunburned, so it got washed off. Then I slept, and then I felt well enough to walk around and watch several hours of History Channel International.

Tomorrow I am going to San Diego with Jason M. and we are going to tour UCSD and see the Symphony perform Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1. I am super excited, but a bit apprehensive about travelling with my back in the condition that it is. It will be okay, though. I think I have no more to say.
